UniFest 09 @ UCSI University

I usually make it a rule to never blog about work. But I just had to write about last night’s event at the University.

Dubbed as the UniFest, it is all about the students’ turn to celebrate our recent conferment to University status. So what was it students knew how to do best? Party like there’s no tomorrow of course!

The event however pleasantly turned out to be a great concert, with honestly, some of the best band and music selection that I have ever seen. At par even with those that are organised by professionals. There were some bands last night that I’ve only heard for the first time, but it’ll definitely won’t be the last.

Below are some photos of the event. For more, click here, here, and here!

My Aerosmith Moment

We were at Rock Corner again, like moths to a light. This time however, I did not walk out empty handed. Being the eclectic music listener I am, I decided to purchase something I didn’t I’d ever purchase.

The Best of Aerosmith

Its Aerosmith baby!

It's Aerosmith baby!

I didn’t really realise just how big a fan I was of the band until I flipped to the back and read the list of tracks. I’ve listened to more than half of them, and I loved those songs! Classics such as Janie’s got a Gun, Pink, Falling in love (is so hard on the knees) and of course, my ultimate favourite, Crazy.

Who can forget that iconic music video starring Steve Tyler’s daughter Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone (back in the day when she was sexy as hell).

The video is the best I could find. Supposedly a “Director’s Cut”.

Currently listening to…

Jason Mraz has always been my favourite. His latest album “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things” is making waves everywhere. Bear in mind that this is only his second album. It took him a long time to produce one after the success of his first album. (Which I happily bought the original without a second thought) He’s current single is “Lucky”, a duet with Colbie Caillat, which still features his signature folksy tune.

My favourite is “I’m Yours”. I saw an interview of Jason Mraz on V Channel, and it was infectious the way he talks. One of the few truly passionate and optimistic musicians I have ever seen. And one of the videos that was playing while he was being interviewed was him singing “I’m Yours” live with the camera angle from behind him. You could see everyone singing to the song with him and just his guitar. Goosebumps lehh….

Check out the song below in case you haven’t heard it yet. (Where have you been? It’s been playing everywhere!)

Note: If it wasn’t for the lack of roadside garbage, I would have thought that he was chilling in Malaysia!
