Chamberpot Literature
In case you didn’t know. Chamberpot refers to the toilet.
Yup, you got it, I have decided to broach the highly sensitive subject of toilet literature. Just what is toilet literature?
Performing Symphony Number 2 can be downright dull sometimes. You wait for that ending note, but it seems to have gone into an encore performance, and before you know it, you are picking up shampoo bottles and reading their labels, you’re memorizing your bathroom tile patterns and more often that not, you wish you had brought something substantial to read to past the time.
But you have to be real careful on what reading materials you are bringing with you to the loo though. Too interesting, and you end up being there after the audience has left. Too mediocre, and again you’re passing the time reading detergent labels. You don’t want to be like a cousin of mine (*cough*winfield*cough*) who brings full fledged novels like Count of Monte Cristo and end up spending one hour plus while others are banging on the door.
It’s got to be just right.
Have no fear, I have found the perfect reading materials for those exceptionally stubborn loo times.
I have found Reader’s Digest to be exceptionally helpful. It’s got interesting short articles, and if the time warrants for something shorter, just catch the small anecdotes at the bottom of each article which is always interesting and insightful. “Laughter is the Best Medicine” is also a great section to past the time while your bowels are “digesting.”
Another great discovery for toilet literature are the Doraemon comics. If you don’t have one around the house, go out and get them, and update yourself on some lost childhood moments. It’s only RM4.50, so don’t be stingy to your local newsagent, get yourself one!
Doraemon comic books are interesting enough to while away the minutes, and light enough to render you to let go of the book instead of continuing to read it on the way out. It’s funny, and there’s always a lesson to be learnt after every story. *Caution, get one in a lauguage that you understand.
Other favourites that you should consider are The Archies, Calvin & Hobbs and Peanuts. In fact, any light and funny comics are great toilet literature. The dark and sagalike comics such as Dragonball, and other dark Managa series should be avoided. You don’t need all of that bad energy/negativity while performing such an activity.
It’s always handy to have a dry place in the bathroom to place such reading materials. I’ve been to a neighbour’s house once who had a small magazine rack next to the toilet bowl. Talk about advanced thinking!
So that’s it for now. A teacher used to say you should never be “kedekut ilmu” and should always share and spread knowledge. So it’s great if you could put the info to good use.
Now let me go and find something more useful to do aside from writing total bilge.

Guilty Pleasure
I am not in the habit of finding faults in people. Nor do I envy the rich or the famous in the conquest to be perfect and be the talk to the town.
But once in a while, when one just wants to unwind over a bowl of instant noodles and forget about the politics of life, I just can’t help but to visit:
I know, I know, I need a new pastime!

Peace, Love & Happyness
Been busy recently. (What else is new?) And I have neglected my blog for awhile. I wish I could update it as frequently as I could have, but with added portfolios to my job, I find my time at work to be increasingly occupied. It’s all good, because I enjoy what I do.
Until I could post something better, here’s a short update in photos.
I left behind University life for good after finally graduating in late November, and have started working full time for the past six months. It’s a whole new world for me, and despite the great recognition I receive at work, I still can’t get used to life outside of the education world. As me and Sarita mused one day, graduation have been rather anti-climatic, leaving us newbies in the working world with a semi-permeanant “So, now what?” kinda feeling.
Me and Baby was in Midvalley recently, and although we have been there many times before, we have never really stepped into RockCorner, a music store next to Pet Wonderland on the third floor. We were pleasantly surprised to find every imaginable record or album at the shop. I found some of my favrourite, and rather hard to find jazz favourites, such as Etta James and Sergio Mendes’ older albums.
Seeing all these CDs makes me resolve to start collecting them before they die out a natural death like 8 track cassettes did. With the advent of the internet and file sharing, everyone downloads their music now. And although it does satisfy my music cravings, I find them to be a cheap imitation of the original. Nothing beats having the actual album, to be able to sift through the album sleeve, and read the lyrics, and find out the true genuises behind each song by reading names of writers. With MP3s, people are nowadays finding it hard to even name the title of the song. Sad ain’t it?
After vaccinating Kacik aka Sayang aka Mol (what is her name anyway Baby?) she is growing nice and round. (According to hearsay anyway :p) We vaccinated her a few months ago, and switched her food to IAMS, which she took to very well. All she needed was premium RM66 per bag cat food. Typical diva. Hehe… Hopefully she’ll be nice and healthy and grow big until I get to see her again. (Wonder when, huh?)
Although, we hope she won’t need to take after her owner, and go on a diet as well! Hehe…
Most Malaysians’ wish came true, and petrol prices have continued to drop, and currently sits at RM1.90. Funny thing is, although our petrol price is now lower than the staggering RM2.80 we were paying a few months back, we are actually subsidising the government. Petroleum per barrel as of today is $44, and is expected to go lower with decreased demand in the commodity, since the economy is in such a shitty state now. Its bad enough that vegetables and other groceries are hitting sky high prices, (cabbage is now RM3.60 per kilo vs RM0.80 only a few months ago) but as Shahrir (that moron) holds on even tighter to keep petrol prices high, things has become even more dire for the average Malaysian.
I was at a pre-school today. (Don’t ask why) And came across these bottles on the reception desk. The liquid inside seemed to shimmer and light up as you shake it. The idea is that, everytime you need peace, love or happiness, you pick up the bottle and shake it, and make believe that the magic potion will give you that emotion. Simple but rather therapeutic effect I say. Amid the craziness that is going on in our benighted country now, we all deserve some Peace, Love and Happy potion of ourselves. In whatever form it may come to you.

The Quirkiness of Wireless Broadband
The area that I am living now, could be categorized as rural area. It’s almost 60KM to KL. With no landlines, I had to rely on wireless broadband. But it was still frustrating. Download speeds were averaging 100kbps, sometimes even lower. It was like being back to the dial-up connection days.
And then today, I decided to try someting different. I opened my bedroom door. Then I checked my speed.
My download speed is not more than 800kbps.
Wonder if I can get higher speed if I sat outside the house?

Surreal Shopping
So it was one of those days when I was with Baby at Giant to shop for groceries. I love shopping with Baby because I learn a lot of new things from him…and him from me. We could roam the aisles for hours sometimes.
We were in the wet market area, when I stumbled upon this weird “bean” to put it lightly. It looked more like a miniature dried cow’s head.
Baby said he heard of this “bean” before and proclaims it to have a nasty smell.
Malaysians eat pretty weird stuff, but this one takes the cake. Or maybe I am just being very ignorant. Abit of both? Hehehe.
